Oil-Acrylic Papers
Oil and acrylic papers are heavyweight sheets prepared to take paint straight from the pad: sealed against oil sinking in, heavy enough to stay flat under acrylics, and usually embossed with a canvas grain. They serve studies, colour tests, plein air work, and daily practice, in pads and single sheets.

Oil and acrylic papers are heavyweight sheets prepared to take paint straight from the pad.
The preparation is the point. Oil paint needs a sealed surface: on plain paper the oil sinks into the fibres, the colour dries dull, and the paint film weakens. Oil papers carry a coating that keeps the binder in the paint. Acrylics ask mainly for weight, and these papers are heavy enough to stay flat under wet colour. Most also carry an embossed canvas grain, so the brush meets the same tooth and drag it would find on stretched canvas.
That makes them the working surface of studies: colour tests, value studies, plein air sketches, and daily practice at a fraction of the cost of canvas, in a pad light enough to carry anywhere. Many painters use them for finished pieces too, framed under glass like any work on paper.
