Available in wood (lighter) and metal (more stable in wind), with tripod legs for stability on uneven ground. Some models (box easels) include integrated storage for paints, brushes, and palette.

Field easels are designed specifically for outdoor painting, combining portability with stability. They collapse into compact size and carry with shoulder strap or handle. Wood easels are lighter and easier to transport, while metal (aluminum) ones are more stable in wind and more durable. Tripod legs adjust to uneven ground and provide stability. They adjust in height and angle to work standing or seated.
Box easels (French style) are particularly popular because they function simultaneously as easel and storage case. They include drawers for paints and brushes, integrated palette, and some models have space for transporting wet and canvases. Suitable for landscapes, plein air painting, travel, and whenever you want to paint outside the studio. Because they’re portable, they usually hold smaller canvases (up to 50-60cm).
