Acrylic paint brushes are a synthetic family. Acrylics are water-based, the painting session means constant rinsing, and natural hair loses its shape and spring in that routine. Synthetic fibres hold both, and they release acrylic colour cleanly at the sink.
The choice follows the consistency of the paint. Heavy body acrylics move like oils and ask for stiff synthetic bristle that can push thick colour and leave a visible stroke. Fluid and soft body acrylics flow more like watercolour, and softer synthetics lay them down smoothly, hold a point, and manage washes and detail. The shapes carry the same logic as all painting brushes: flats for coverage and edges, brights for control in thick paint, filberts for soft-edged strokes, rounds for line and detail, angles for cutting in, fans for blending and texture.
