The images resist and endure. They resist decay because they are more than works of human hands. They are forms of saints, forms of events of the Divine Economy, works that the hands of people, with reverence and awareness, have imprinted, written, and repainted again and again on walls, on wooden panels, everywhere. <\/p>\n
The images are there, whole, half-destroyed, worn, unbearably present and waiting. Patiently, sometimes impatiently, they beckon to the travelers, the pilgrims, the people from cities beyond the seas and lands. The images, witnesses to the relentless flow of time, to pain as the ruler of history, to the adventure of sanctity, to the wise management of discernment and grace, are always there, always here. In the imperceptible present, they invite, they plead, with silent and discreet gestures, calling to a celebration that is good and honorable, to a common table, to feasting and radiant joy. <\/p>\n
Each journey to encounter the images is a pilgrimage to what they show and reveal. It is a loving meeting with faces that honored their true nature, who loved, died, and martyred for the universality of that love. It is a blessed encounter and a liturgical participation in the events that changed history and gave humanity new possibilities and ways of managing their relationships in a different way. <\/p>\n
And furthermore, every encounter with the images is a communion in the attempt of people to continuously write, with artistic and good ways, and with the dedication and love of the hearts of the saints, their forms and their world. They tell their sacred adventure and their legacy, slowly advancing through time, presenting it to each era.
